that was crisis mangement at its finest. she has an excellent team of advisers. i almost believed her. ALMOST.

STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT
Mga minamahal kong kababayan. For the last several weeks, the issue of the tape recordings has spun out of control. Tonight, I want to set the record straight. You deserve an explanation from me, because you are the people I was elected to serve.As you recall, the election canvassing process was unnecessarily slow even after the election results were already in and the votes had been counted.I was anxious to protect my votes and during that time had conversations with many people, including a COMELEC official. My intent was not to infuence the outcome of the election, and it did not. As I mentioned, the election had alreday been decided and the votes counted, the outcome predicted by every major public opinion poll, and adjudged free, fair by international election observers and even our very own NAMFREL.

That said, let me tell you how I personally feel. I recognize that making any such call was a lapse in judgement. I'm sorry. I also regret taking so long to speak before you on this matter. I take full responsibility for my actions and to you and to all those good citizens who may have had their faith shaken by these events. I want to assure you that I have redoubled my efforts to serve the nation and earn your trust.

Since that time, I have focused on making the tough but necessary decisions to make up for years of economic neglect. We passed a comprehensive, fiscally responsible national budget; raised new and necessary revenues to reinvest in the people; and implemented new anti corruption measures that have led to the highest collection of taxes in history.Nothing should stand in the way of this work, or the next phase of my reform agenda, which includes new investments in education and social services with our new revenues; and an expansion of our successful anti-corruption and lifestyle checks. That is why I want to close this chapter and move on with the Business of governing.I ask each and every one of you to join hands with me in a show of unity, to help forge ONE philippines, where everyone is equal under the law, and where everyone has the oppurtunity to use their God Given talents to make a better life.

Our nation is strong and getting stronger. The progress is steady and I ask you to walk with me on this journey to rebuild our great nation. in (and out) my element

i took a leave for two weeks and it was fun.

then this week.

i cannot believe i was out on STORY CHECK on a thursday morning --- 2 days before airing! what the f#*!?

i went without bathing for 46 straight hours because i was too depressed to do anything else. i felt i had no right to shampoo, to put on lotion etc, etc because I DID NOT HAVE A STORY!!! Or to be precise, a case study.

what bothers me is the fact that my task was EASY. i just had to look for freaks. punyeta!

i survived looking for pork barrel anomalies. pedophiles. corrupt policemen. fake doctors. and i couldn't find freaks?!?

all leads turned out to be negative. and they all had to change mobile numbers. punyeta!

but thursday lunch turned out to be the "break" i badly needed. vera insisted that i have lunch first before i continue looking for my case studies. and i'm glad i listened to duddy :)

i found an asset in the canteen. his name is "banak" - after the character he plays in encantadia. and he had a whole lot of "contacts" --- tumutulay sa alambre, kumakain ng bubog, nagbubuga ng apoy... you name it.

in that instance, he was (for me) the best looking male i've ever laid eyes on. nyahahaha

after that, i was on a roll. AND IT FELT GOOD! :) i was able to schedule our itinerary for the rest of the day and the interviews to follow the next day.

but when i rushed to st. luke's to interview a doctor for our segment, kuya rex reminded me about my permit. OOOOOHHH NOOOO!!! i totally forgot.

fortunately, my adrenal glands were in the peak of productivity!

ANGEL(with my best smile): ma'am im super sorry po but it's my first week on the job. i'm still trying to learn the ropes. and kasi 20 minutes ago lang po pumayag iyong doctor. the interview's medyo rush lang po kasi...

ANGEL(thinking fast): 2005 po...
SLAO(with a motherly expression): ah ganun ba? ang galing galing mo naman at chaka ang suwerte mo. first job mo sa imbestigador agad! *smile, smile*

SLAO: sige okay na kayo for interview, inform ko na lang guard.
ANGEL(angelic expression full-blast): thank you po

it was then that i realized i missed these "ngarag" moments. i have always loved the pressure, no matter the level or intensity.

whatever doubts i had... they're history.

THIS IS WHAT I WAS MEANT TO DO. and i love rediscovering my passion for my job.

the "badge of honor" may be a little too heavy to wear nowadays. and i'm not saying i have stopped thinking of jumping over to the lifestyle channel. but for now, i'm content.

tomorrow, i may be raging mad again and complaining about a million and one things. but what's important is NOW. and now, i'm happy and bursting with passion and excitement.

i remember GMA's "where you belong" station ID a few decades back, with it's tacky rainbow design and wrong choice of colors. but today, i smile thinking about it.

yes, i feel this is "where i belong" :)

from the dead

i finally have a life again!

yesterday: a job interview (and got hired!). shopped in galleria. met up with my gracie and mikey. found my dream pen (fluffy pink and white light-up disney princess pen!). watched batman begins with miranda and vond. put up my new PINK curtains. --- all in one day! :)

earlier this week and the week before: had a blast sleeping my way through every single day, going to tagaytay, overnight with vond, kissing kyle, read stardust and the illustrated alchemist, mr. & mrs. smith with pat and koryn, had my hair styled, a pedicure and a hair treatment, arranging a date for pink, SEEING my dad and my sister, fixing my room... aaaahhh life!

drool fest

vera said it was lousy (actually, the exact term she used was "super panget"). noi said it was crap. miranda declared it had no plot.

but koryn, pat and i refused to listen. and so, we found ourselves in greenhills theater to watch mr. & mrs. smith.

koryn: *smile, smile*
pat: *eyes twinkling*
angel (looking really stupid): *smiles from ear to ear*

it was lousy. it was crap. yes, it had no plot.

and... we had fun! :) we enjoyed the movie and laughed ourselves silly.

but then again, a roll of film which captures brad pitt's half naked body and disarming smile (even without the scoring, the dialogue/script, the plot, co-actors....blah blah) --- already qualifies as a movie for me.

for that (and angelina jolie's kick-ass way of descending from a building), i'd willingly part with my 140 pesos.

the dance of the danz :)

i finally got to watch "walang liligaya" by independent filmmaker (naks!) nowell cuanang.

overnights in linden suites are fun --- as soon as we get the "meeting" part of it over and done with. the usual: pose galore, queen bee asking miranda to take her CANDID photo (haaaay), extorting money from booma...

shock of the night was the porn debut of the very delicious danz. that's the thing when you're around imbestigador people. you have to be very careful... with every step, every word and every gesture. these seemingly innocent bunch certainly know how to work a hidden camera. unfortunately, danz had to learn that lesson the hard (though very amusing) way.

MY obssession

ok, ok. so maybe i'm not as obssessed as ms. iledan-concepcion (dino coming from a wealthy family of hacienderos from the south) but i guess it's a start :)

and no, i am not being unfaithful to vond. (tee-hee, peace honey!)

it's a harmless obssession. if you can actually consider obssessions "harmless". wachathink pat? you're the expert on these matters. hehehe

but he makes xaymaca a lot more interesting. aside from this surge of pride i feel for koryn's progress, he's the reason why i had a blast tonight.

yes, he's the reason why i will keep coming back to old jamaica. hehehe

pgma & comelec controversy --- again

for the past year or so that i've been with the news and public affairs department, and as far back as i can remember, the biggest controversies ALWAYS, ALWAYS involved the president and the comelec. and i worked there.*sigh*

i remember how it was being part of the bids and awards committee. yes, i worked in that department, a.k.a "the root of all evil". money, what else?

the committe had at least 5 lawyers, including those from satan's lair (the chairman's office) who fucking made sure the "law" --- their stupid resolutions, manuals, regulations, had loopholes. loopholes that guaranteed their freedom walk because of "technicality". they had a ready provision in every single resolution that would get them off the hook because "technically" it was legal. punyeta.

that i feel strongly about this, that i even waste blog space for this is a very recent realization. when i worked for comelec and spent 90% of my time being useless to the government, either exploring wow philippines or shopping in the nearest SM,it didn't seem like such a big deal. i thought then that at least, i can proudly say that my time card refelected the real amount of work i put in. when it was just three hours of work, then that's it. my time card had more blanks than anybody else. but looking back, i just want to hang my head in shame because i was just like them.

now that the wire-tapped conversation of the president and a comelec commissioner has been exposed, shame has been replaced with a hollow and dead sort of feeling.

i screamed my lungs out in edsa 2. i made it for three straight days without taking a bath because i simply refused to leave sacred ground. i do not deserve a cheating president who will insist on a 1 million margin (with the help of the chairman and commissioner appointees) just to be re-elected. i do not deserve a president who will again use "technicality" to untangle herself from the jueteng mess. of course, she cannot be charged. she is not her husband. she is not her son. she is also not her brother in-law.

but to say that she NEVER covered up for them or that she has no inkling about their "affairs" is like saying the philippines is as economically stable as the united states.
